What kind of diet can I add Pawthecary products to?
Any and every kind of diet! Unless your dog is allergic to any of the ingredients in our products, you can introduce Pawthecary products to whatever diet you’re feeding them – kibble, raw, homemade cooked food, pre-packaged meals, etc. Please make sure to gradually introduce our products in their bowl and feed them our products within the recommended quantities.
Can I start with the full dosage from day one?
We recommend you gradually introduce your dog to our products, especially if they’ve never had the ingredient before. On day one, give your dog a pinch or a few drops of the product and see if they’re okay with it. If you do not notice any reactions, flatulence, loose stool, etc., you can increase the amount you’re feeding. Always feed the products within the recommended dosages, and be mindful of the other feeding guidelines.
Can I use Pawthecary as a meal replacement?
No, our products are food toppers, which means they can be added on top of the food you’re feeding your dog to enhance its benefits. Pawthecary products have nutritional benefits but they alone do not offer the complete nutrition your dog should be getting from their diet.
Can I feed your products to my dog directly instead of adding them to food?
Unless mentioned in the product usage instructions, we suggest you do not do this, especially with our powders. Our powders are hygroscopic and they can clump around the tongue, on the gums or elsewhere inside the mouth and cause unnecessary distress to your dog. Always ensure you mix the powders with the food you’re feeding. This could be your dog’s main meal or a snack, but please ensure there is enough water for our powders to absorb.

Can I replace my dog’s supplements with Pawthecary products?
We do not recommend you replace any vet-prescribed supplement with our products without checking with your vet first. Pawthecary products offer a maintenance dose of compounds that your dog would get from their diet had the original ingredient been present. Vet-prescribed supplements are usually stronger and are used to deliver higher doses of the compound quickly, often addressing a health concern. Our products are not a substitute for veterinary care or medicines, and while we would love to see you using them, we do not want any harm to come your dog’s way. So, safety first – always check with your veterinarian before replacing any vet-prescribed supplements with our products.
Do I need to feed Pawthecary products daily?
Unless recommended otherwise on the product packaging, you can safely feed our products daily. If you are feeding your dog multiple supplements or food toppers, we suggest you check the ingredients to ensure everything is fed within daily recommended quantities – too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. If in doubt, you can always decrease the frequency of feeding our products until you’re sure.
Can I use Pawthecary for my senior dog with health issues/ my puppy/ my dog that’s recovering from surgery or illness?
All Pawthecary products have guidelines on their packaging regarding which dogs they can be used for. If a product is unsuitable for a specific age or medical condition, this will be mentioned on the product packaging. For example, our honey bottle clearly states that it should not be used for puppies or for dogs with high blood sugar. You can always check the ingredient list to ensure the product does not have anything that the vet has advised against or any known allergens. If you have a doubt, the best way forward would be to ask your veterinarian – they have a complete picture of your dog’s health and would be able to give you the most qualified advice.
Can cats use Pawthecary?
No. Pawthecary products are not formulated for cats or any animal other than dogs. They may contain ingredients unsafe for cats, so it is always safe to not give these to your cat. If you’ve come across any of our products that you would like to use for your cat, please reach out to us using the contact page – we would love to try and make it suited to your cat!
Can humans use Pawthecary?
All our products are made with human-grade ingredients in FSSAI-compliant units. However, since we are directly involved in a part of the process and do not have human-grade food safety for that yet, we do not recommend you share your dog’s Pawthecary products. Our honey is the only product that you may share and that’s because once it leaves the FSSAI-compliant unit, we do not modify it at all – we use it too; it’s delicious!
Can I remove the product from the Pawthecary packaging and put it in my container at home?
For powders – as long as you move the silica gel and the oxy-absorber sachets along with the product and ensure you move everything to an airtight container that can protect the product from light, go ahead!
For liquids – ensure they’re moved to an airtight container and that you follow the storage instructions on the original bottle. Please be mindful if you’re moving the product from a glass bottle to a plastic bottle as it may react with the plastic.
In any case, please do not expose the product to light and air for too long, and try and hold on to the original storage, usage, and dosage instructions, along with the manufacture and use-by dates. Either take a photo or cut the back label and keep it safely. Apart from the dates, you can find all the information in the image gallery on the respective product page of our online store.
My powder looks clumpy – has it gone bad?
Please check the best before date, look for mould and smell the powder to ascertain that – unless it looks or smells off, the mere presence of clumps should not be an issue.
Many of our powders are made by drying the ingredients before powdering them. Some ingredients are shade-dried, while others are freeze-dried. Either way, the powders are hygroscopic (they will soak up water very quickly) and can get clumpy if exposed to moisture. We give moisture absorber sachets in all our pouches but sometimes, the powder will stick around the smallest drop of water and form clumps. Usually, you can easily break the clump using the back of a spoon or between your fingers. If the clumps are harder and difficult to break, but the powder looks and smells fine, you can pulse the clumps in a blender before using them.
Our freeze-dried berry mix may look cakey when you open the pouch. This is because we press it flat to remove as much air (and therefore, moisture) as possible from the pouch before sealing it. You should be able to crush the cakey bits back into a powder using the process above.
